The Minister for Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magyezi, has chaired a high-level meeting at the Kitgum District Local Government Council Hall to officially close the Northern Uganda Development of Enhanced Local Governance, Infrastructure and Livelihoods (NUDEIL) – Tranche IV.

The meeting brought together the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), her technical team, and district leaders including the LC5 Chairperson, Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the area Member of Parliament, and the Local Economic Development (LED) team led by Assistant Commissioner Emmanuel Muhanguzi.

Following the meeting, Hon. Magyezi conducted an inspection of the newly completed Lanyadyang Bridge, a flagship infrastructure project delivered under NUDEIL Tranche IV.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the overall quality and impact of the bridge, noting its vital role in connecting Kitgum and Pader Districts and improving year-round access across previously impassable terrain. The bridge enhances mobility, trade, emergency response, and access to markets, schools, and health centers for the surrounding communities.

However, Hon. Magyezi also observed a few areas requiring improvement on the bridge’s finishing. He instructed the contractor to closely collaborate with the district leadership to ensure the bridge is completed to the highest standard before handover.

Described as “not just a crossing, but a connection to communities,” the Lanyadyang Bridge stands as a powerful symbol of the enduring partnership between Uganda and the United States highlighting shared achievement, service, and future collaboration.

The Minister’s visit reaffirmed the Government of Uganda’s commitment to transformative infrastructure that drives inclusive development, strengthens regional integration, and leaves a lasting impact on the lives of Ugandans in Northern Uganda.
