Head of Public Service Urged Local Government Accounting Officers on Leadership

The Head of Public Service, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, urged local government accounting officers to assert their presence in their duty stations through proactive leadership.

She encouraged them to go beyond their routine duties and initiate interventions in their duty stations in line with community needs.

Ms. Nakyobe made these remarks during the day’s meeting of Chief Administrative Officers and Town Clerks of Cities and Municipalities, which was underway at the Grand Imperial Hotel in Kampala.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ben Kumumanya, in his opening remarks, asked the accounting officers to prioritise recruitment, the fight against corruption, automation of local revenue management, road maintenance, and supervision of extension services.

He also called on them to utilise their deputies to undertake the monitoring of staff at lower local governments and service delivery in general.#
