Kyenjojo District – Kyenjojo District was not predominantly a livestock farming area. For this reason, the community conceived dairy farming as a way to improve livelihoods. The Katooke Milk Collection Center, located in Katooke Town Council, was constructed under this initiative.

The project initially began on 13/12/2021, with an expected completion date of 13/02/2022. However, due to poor performance by the first contractor, M/S Capital and Procurement Ltd (budget: UGX 472M), the deadline was extended until 20/07/2023. The second contractor, M/S Clayeford Construction Limited (budget: UGX 143M), successfully completed the project.

The Minister of State for Local Government, Honorable Victoria Rusoke Businge, graced the occasion and commissioned the UGX 572M Katooke Milk Collection Center. Funded by the Islamic Development Bank under the LEGS project, the facility was expected to help farmers collect and sell their milk at better prices, thereby improving household incomes.

During the commissioning, Hon. Businge praised Katooke Town Council for maintaining a corruption-free environment, assuring that the government would continue bringing development projects to the area. She thanked the locals for embracing government initiatives and urged leaders to sensitize the community on the facility’s purpose and benefits.

Additionally, Katooke Town Council had benefited from other government programs, including Emyooga and the Parish Development Model (PDM), totaling UGX 2,000,000,000, according to the Resident District Commissioner.
