Hon. Magyezi Commissions New Awach Central Primary School in Gulu District, Celebrates NUDEIL IV Milestone

The Minister for Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magyezi has officially handed over newly constructed education facilities  at New Awach Central Primary School in Awach Sub-County, Gulu District to the community of Awach LC1, a site that now also houses the new Gulu District Headquarters.

The handover ceremony marked a significant milestone under the Northern Uganda Development of Enhanced Local Governance, Infrastructure, and Livelihoods (NUDEIL) – Tranche IV, funded by USAID at UGX 15.6 billion.

Key facilities commissioned at Awach Central Primary School include:

✅Two classroom blocks with a store, office, and staffroom

✅One block of two unit staff accommodation

✅A staff latrine block

✅Two five-stance drainable latrines

Speaking at the event, Hon. Magyezi applauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for fostering Uganda -U.S. relations that made the NUDEIL program possible.  “Had it not been for the President’s visionary leadership and his strong ties with the American people, programs like NUDEIL would never have reached our communities,” Hon. Magyezi stated.

He also thanked the school administration, local leaders, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for their efforts to ensure the project’s success.

NUDEIL Tranche IV has delivered widespread impact across seven districts Gulu, Amuru, Lamwo, Kitgum, Omoro, Oyam, and Nwoya including: 

✅72 boreholes drilled and rehabilitated,  1236 desks, 129 office tables

✅238 chairs, and 115 cupboards supplied to schools

✅Rehabilitation of over 19.7 kilometers of rural roads

✅Planting of over 20000 trees
