The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Ben Kumumanya, urged contractors undertaking construction works under the LEGS project to be sensitive to community needs and grievances.
He emphasized that the projects were designed to benefit communities, and contractors had to ensure no harm was caused during project execution.
Mr. Kumumanya made these remarks that evening before signing and handing over contracts for the construction of a valley tank in Kimara Parish, Ntungama Sub-County in Ntoroko district; and the completion of the Ocorimongin Rice Processing Facility in Katakwi District.
The two projects were being constructed under the first phase of the LEGS Project.

The Kimara Valley Tank, with a capacity of 68,000 cubic meters, was to be constructed by WML Consulting Engineers, while the Ocorimongin Rice Processing Facility was to be built by Ailwar General Works Limited. The contractors were given three and two months, respectively, to complete the work.
Mr. Kumumanya also told contractors the Ministry would not tolerate cost variations. The contractors pledged to deliver high-quality work and to collaborate closely with the community.
